Brom's rhythmic thumping helps anchor the Starduster's rhythm section and temper the band's overall tempo. A 53-year-old manager for BellSouth, Brom has been playing bass for almost 40 years for his personal enjoyment in addition to being a sideman with numerous bands. He is an original member of The StarDusters and has found a home playing a variety of music from the Big Band swing era. ''I enjoy it immensely,'' he said. ''Playing music from that period has been a wonderful learning experience, both musically and historically.'' Bromley has lived in Gastonia, N.C. since 1966. He and his wife are parents of two sons.
